- Syntax : Kinds of sentences and their transformations, structure of sentences.
- Semantics-Different types of change in meaning; Euphemism.
- Common errors in spellings, grammatical uses and construction of sentences.
Section B - (History of Oriya Literature)- Historical backgrounds (social, cultural and political) of Oriya Literature of different periods.
- Ancient epics, ornate kavyas and padavalis
- Typical structural forms of Oriya Literature (Koili, Chautisa, Poi, Chaupadi, Champu)
- Impact of renaissance with special reference to poetry, fiction and essay.
 Paper-IIAnswers must be written in Oriya.Critical Study of texts - The paper will require firsthand reading of the text and test the critical ability of the candidate. Section A - (Poetry)- (Ancient)
